Unfunded and Underfunded Mandates

 

 

        1) Cost of background checks for volunteers and employees (HB 1 did reduce the number of BCI  checks)

        2)  Cost of sunshine law meeting notices

  3)     Cost of professional extended service

  4)    Screening and identification of gifted students requirement

  5)    Post secondary enrollment option costs

  6)    Extracurricular activity costs (in particular related to non-enrolled students)

  7)    Immunization and record-keeping requirements

  8)    Increased (and extensive) costs for state audits

  9)    Growth freeze in local taxes by reduction factors

10)  EMIS (Educational Management Information System) costs, including scheduled EMIS Redesign

11)  Materials required for new curriculum models for achievement testing

12)  Identification and notification of missing children

13)  Required training of staff for prevention of child abuse, of substance abuse, and of violence and for positive youth development (ORC 3319.073)

14)  STRS service credit purchase for leaves of absence

15)  Requirement that parents be notified if a student is absent
